The Capacity Fund provides much needed funding to Organic Alberta, SaskOrganics and the Manitoba Organic Alliance. This core funding strengthens the industry associations, that are key to building the Prairie organic sector, to pay staff and keep the lights on at a time when it is becoming increasingly difficult to use project-based funding for this purpose. Without strong industry associations, there is no capacity to advocate for policies to support the sector, collect benchmarking data, develop resources for organic producers or to host training events that build the skills of organic and transitioning producers.
